It’s either about sentiment or statement with me – my most precious pieces, some of which I wear every day, are not only beautiful objects but also remind me of special moments in my life. But on the other hand, I love the statement one can make with striking costume jewellery, and I particularly like big earrings. I know I’ve got it right if my husband raises an eyebrow and says “Pourquoi La Vache Qui Rit rit?” (referring to the picture on the front of the Laughing Cow box of cheese… he doesn’t understand my passion for big earrings.)

Jewellery Journal - Sheikha Intisar AlSabah - Inspiration - What I wear has to be more than just stones and metal, it has to make me feel good at a deeper level

As a designer of my own jewellery for 30 years, I have gone through many styles from traditional, highly embellished, ornamental pieces, all the way to very modern, sleek designs. Now, what I wear has to be more than just stones and metal, it has to make me feel good at a deeper level, like an amulet or talisman.

This new conviction led me to create my jewellery brand Intisars which is totally and always inspired by the universal language of LOVE. Every piece is conceptualised around that beautiful feeling of being in love and designed in a way that this feeling never subsides.
